ORKCA

Orange River–Karoo Conservation Area (ORKCA) is a non-profit management organisation supporting a unique conservation landscape in southern Namibia, currently spanning over 160,000 hectares of wilderness. ORKCA’s mission is to restore and rewild the broader Orange River–Karoo ecosystem. This is achieved by scaling landscape-level conservation, restoring ecological connectivity, and generating new livelihood opportunities for landowners and local communities. ORKCA acts as a catalyst for change by developing a resilient and sustainable land-use model rooted in the wildlife economy, carbon restoration, and local enterprise.

In January 2026, I stepped away from a full-time role at ORKCA and now work in a consultancy capacity. I oversee the Rolex Perpetual Planet Grant and its associated projects, the PAW donor project, and the OAK Regenerative Landscapes Grant. I work closely with donors to ensure that projects are delivered in line with grant requirements, while managing communications and ensuring that the work on the ground is creatively captured and clearly reported. I also collaborate with the Brand and Communications team to ensure storytelling remains aligned with ORKCA’s identity.

Most importantly, I continue to spend time on the land—sleeping under the stars, connecting to the elements, and grounding the work in lived experience.
